BIKE COURSE
Cycling Course starts and ends at Harris River Front Park, Huntington. The course is 2 loops of 7.5 miles each for a total of 15 miles. Run and Bike courses will be marked with cones, but streets are open to traffic.

Leaving Harris Riverfront Park turn right and go down to 12th St. West and turn left and go south to 5th Avenue and then turn left which is east. Stay in the left lane. Go east to 24th Street and then turn left (north) then turn left at 3rd Avenue and go west. You will stay in the north (closest to the river) lane until you return to Harris Riverfront Park. Riders completing their first loop will be instructed to remain in the left lane of Veterans (Virginia) Avenue until you reach 8th Street. This is to avoid merging bicycle traffic and runners from the transition point. For the fastest athletes it will be possible that slower athletes will merge in to you as they emerge from the park.  Be careful.  After the second loop return to the transition point in Harris Riverfront Park to complete bike leg. Dismount at the dismount line! Someone will be there to tell you this. There is no riding in the transition area.

  • Although the course is marked with safety cones, there are no road closures – all roads are open. Please be aware of all other road users. Please look for vehicles and other cyclists or runners when passing.

RUNNING COURSE
For the duathlon, there are 2 different 5k courses. The first 5k course is from the Harris Riverfront Park to Ducky’s and back. The second 5k course is out of Harris Riverfront Park and to the 6th Street Bridge, up the ramp and across the bridge to Chesapeake and back.

For the kayathlon and the duathlon the course is simply to head west leaving the park .   Go west for 1.2 miles approximately and turn back around at first street.   You will re-enter the park and head west and make a loop in the park and ultimately head along the river to the finish which will be very close to the boat ramp where it all started.

  • Although the course is marked with safety cones, there are no road closures – all roads are open. Please be aware of all other road users. Please look for vehicles and other cyclists or runners when passing.
